Commit to another level of your practice to learn the tools and practices to live your yoga beyond your mat. We know there is more to yoga than asana, but how do you share it with your students? We dive deep into subtle body, philosophy, and apply it directly to your life. Each weekend is themed with one of the main 7 chakras and the energies, body, poses associated with it. We cover advanced asana, as well as common transitions and advanced sequencing that will help you refine your teaching skills. Our Beyond the Mat section teaches you self-care, and helps you shape your lifestyle of your dreams. Live what you teach, stay inspired, nourish yourself and be the best version of yourself.

“I highly recommend any courses and trainings provided through Living Beyond the Mat. Jessica is an amazing instructor and has guided me to a much deeper understanding of yoga and my practice than I ever thought possible. She lives what she teaches and models professionalism in all of her actions and support of her students.”

“Jessica McGimsey and Living Beyond the Mat TT at Peace Love and Yoga was absolutely life changing. Jess is hands down a true yogi who is deeply knowledgable, professional, and so in-tuned with each of us individual teachers. She was meant to share her knowledge and make/grow teachers. I will continue to train and learn more from her for years to come. She is a true gift to the yoga community.”

Subjects
-
Advanced Asana
Advanced asana isn’t necessarily crazy, intense poses. We learn asana that have more complex components, and multiple components. We work on refinement and subtleties within the asana foundations we learn in the 200 hour program.
-
Advanced Subtle Body and Specialty
Subtle energy is the framework that this entire training is built around. We focus on experiencing how these energies function within ourselves and tapping into how to balance and share this work with our students.
-
Applied Anatomy
In this subject. we focus on functionality. We explore the range of differences in structure and in range of motion with bones, joints. We then apply how to adjust asana for each person’s unique structure. We layer our learning of what the body consist of with how the different parts of the body actually function.
-
Integrated Philosophy
This subject takes the philosophical concepts in our texts and discuss what that looks like in a practical sense. These concepts and theories are meant to be attainable for everyone, and we discuss in realistic terms, what that really looks like. All concepts exist on a continuum and we all choose what we take in and what we leave behind… discerning what is helpful to me right now, and what is not helpful to me right now.
-
Refined Teaching Methods
Those that choose to teach, know that it takes a bit to find your voice. In this training we build on your unique voice and help you develop your own unique perspective and how to share it in the world in a way that is impactful and fulfilling to you. We will refine your teaching skills, explore new ways of sequencing, as well as teach you how to effectively teach more than just asana.
-
Beyond the Mat
In this section, we take the tools and subjects within yoga from theory to practical use. We encourage and support application of these techniques so that you are able to experience the impact yoga has as a whole.

A 300 hour yoga teacher training builds on the foundation of a 200 hour program. A 200 TT, plus a 300 TT, will allow you to register as a 500 RYT. This program is about refinement in teaching, and understanding. We dive deep into the subtle energy and philosophy subjects that were overviewed in the 200 hour program. We explore more complex asana, and teaching more complex concepts. This program is also for those who want to take their teaching career to a new level.

After each week you will receive a short homework assignment, with reading to support the material coming in the next week. While we encourage you to stay on track with the due dates, we just need all homework turned in before you receive your certificate.
-
Yoga Alliance requires that you complete all 300 hours of the teacher training to receive a certificate. We do understand that life happens and you may miss a class. We allow you to miss up to 42 hours. If you happen to miss more than 42 hours, you will have to retake the training and no refunds (full or partial) will be given. We have 3 options for you to make up any missed hours.
Option 1: Take the missed sections in the next teacher training. This option is no additional cost to you, but please be aware that each location typically holds 300 hour trainings only once a year and you will have to complete your make-ups before receiving your certificate.
Option 2: Schedule a private session with the lead trainer at some point throughout the training. Private session rates are $75/hour and can be split between you and another student if you miss the same hours. Privates are not hour for hour, and we try to condense as much as possible. The exact amount of time needed to make up will depend on the content missed.
Typically 1 Hour Private= 1-4 hours missed
Option 3: With a minimum of 3 days advance notice of your absence, we can set up zoom to record the missed class hours. You’ll be sent the recording with a make-up assignment to earn credit for the hours missed. Only 25 hours can be made up with this option. This option is no charge, but is not guaranteed. If there is an issue with the audio/visual/tech, you will need to choose one of the previous options for make-ups.
